
In the
McMorran Place Theater on September 22, 2007, in the host
city or Port Huron, 25-year-old Elisabeth Crawford was
crowned Miss Michigan USA® 2008. To the venue's sold-out
audience, Crawford declared, "Out of all the experiences
I have experienced in my life this is the best by far." The
Greater Detroit representative, born in Veracruz, Mexico
has significant plans for her new position.
The dual
citizenship beauty’s accomplishments include humanitarian
efforts that have allowed her the opportunity to see much
of the world; her American born parents were Missionaries
in Mexico and Elisabeth and her family worked with impoverished
families much of her young life. At the age of thirteen
she moved to the United States.
While
attending Texas A&M Kingsville from 2003 – 2005
Elisabeth studied Mass Communications and Political Science
along with the opportunity of being selected Vice President
of the student government association. While attending
college Elisabeth lost her Mother to cancer and shortly
after launched her own non-profit cancer awareness organization;
Active for Life On Cancer. Then is 2005 she moved to Michigan
to be closer to her friends and family.
During
her reign, Elisabeth will work with the official causes
of Miss USA, which include breast and ovarian cancer education,
research, and legislation as well as working with her own
cancer awareness organization. The Miss Universe Organization,
producers of the Miss UNIVERSE®, MISS USA® and
MISS TEEN USA® Pageants, is a Donald J. Trump and National
Broadcasting Company, Inc. (NBC) partnership.
