In the McMorran Place Theater on September 22, 2007, in the host city or Port Huron, 25-year-old Elisabeth Crawford was crowned Miss Michigan USA® 2008. To the venue's sold-out audience, Crawford declared, "Out of all the experiences I have experienced in my life this is the best by far." The Greater Detroit representative, born in Veracruz, Mexico has significant plans for her new position.

The dual citizenship beauty’s accomplishments include humanitarian efforts that have allowed her the opportunity to see much of the world; her American born parents were Missionaries in Mexico and Elisabeth and her family worked with impoverished families much of her young life. At the age of thirteen she moved to the United States.

While attending Texas A&M Kingsville from 2003 – 2005 Elisabeth studied Mass Communications and Political Science along with the opportunity of being selected Vice President of the student government association. While attending college Elisabeth lost her Mother to cancer and shortly after launched her own non-profit cancer awareness organization; Active for Life On Cancer. Then is 2005 she moved to Michigan to be closer to her friends and family.

During her reign, Elisabeth will work with the official causes of Miss USA, which include breast and ovarian cancer education, research, and legislation as well as working with her own cancer awareness organization. The Miss Universe Organization, producers of the Miss UNIVERSE®, MISS USA® and MISS TEEN USA® Pageants, is a Donald J. Trump and National Broadcasting Company, Inc. (NBC) partnership.
